Community College Leaders to Call for Improved Graduation Rates, Renewed Focus on Student Success and Equity

WHAT: Leaders from across California will release a report calling for an increase in the number of community college graduates by 1 million by 2020 while eliminating the achievement gap and closing participating gaps. The report, released by the Community College League of California’s Commission on the Future also identifies 17 recommendations for achieving the bold goals.

WHO: Los Angeles Community College District officials, including Chancellor Daniel LaVista, Board President Georgia Mercer, and Los Angeles Trade-Tech President Roland “Chip” Chapdelaine; David Rattray, Sr. Vice President, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce; Barbara Dunsheath, Trustee, North Orange County CCD and Professor of History, East Los Angeles College; Ben Duran, Superintendent/President, Merced CCD (Spanish speaker); John Hendrickson, Chancellor, West Valley-Mission CCD, Scott Lay, President/CEO, Community College League of California; and additional student, faculty and administrative leaders.
